Lapwing wading by the lakeside. A wonderful bird close up.

Female Chaffinch

The female Chaffinch. A bit less colourful than the male.

Male Bullfinch

The male Bullfinch in all his colourful spleandour!

Sparrow Hawk

Image
A female Sparrow Hawk looking dishevelled in the high winds. Frequent visitors to the garden.

The Goldcrest

Image
A fairly rare sighting of this Goldcrest feeding in the garden. This is the smallest bird in the UK, smaller than the Wren.

The Heron

Image
Caught in the act! A Heron takes a sizeable Tench for lunch! Captured at Pennington Country Park.

Black Headed Gulls

Image
Captured Black Headed Gulls (winter plumage) in flight above the lake at Yarrow Valley Country Park.

Common Snipe

Image
The Common Snipe. When I photographed this there was about a hundred of them all congregated in one place on the lake.

The Wren

Image
The humble little Wren, the small bird with a big voice. It has a lovely song.

Great Spotted Woodpecker

Image
Was lucky enough to get a shot of this Great Spotted Woodpecker on a walk. They can be really quite difficult to photograph.

The Little Egret

Image
Captured this beautiful Little Egret flying through the trees at Pennington Flash Country Park. I rate this place as one of the premier places to photograph wildlife and also to enjoy a great walk around the lake and down the canal.
