Abandoned?

It seems that after completing a nice little nest, the female has vanished! Not seen her for about two weeks. Either she has fallen prey to a Sparrow Hawk or Cat, or she has simply found another partner and moved to pastures new. It really is a mystery! The poor little male is still around and he roosts at night in his normal place in another box in the garden. It is a crying shame for this male because last year he managed to mate and had about a dozen eggs in a nest, until it was raided and the nest was pulled out of the box and the eggs smashed. Not sure of the culprits but I suspect Sparrows or a Magpie may have done the damage. This will be the second year he has been unsuccessful. 😒😒
